West Bank Bicycle Path:
Repave a Tributary to the Mississippi River
University of Minnesota     Spring 2009

Part art installation & part landscape architecture, this project begins by tearing up the existing bicycle path across campus.  The path becomes a temporary construction site, left in place just long enough to get the attention of the daily users.  They will begin to recognize the presence of the subtle path that winds its way through campus.  After some time has passed, the route is repaved with a new material to distinguish it from the surrounding environment.  It becomes something new, a unique and noticeable bicycle path to the Washington Avenue Bridge and the Mississippi River.
